AI In dentistry: What it is and how dentists are using it

Artificial intelligence (AI) has grown in popularity in health care, notably in cancer, cardiology, pulmonology, and radiology. Dentistry is lagging behind in terms of acceptance, but it is fast catching up and bringing it to the forefront of patient care. Medical physicians do not recommend patients for x-rays or scans unless there is a reason to be concerned, and AI is used to support life-or-death diagnoses. AIDental offices, on the other hand, do x-rays every day, and patients have x-rays taken at yearly examinations. Dentists may use AI-powered software to help them discover and diagnose illnesses seen on x-rays, but they are also effective tools for gaining patient confidence. According to a recent poll of dental patients, 65% indicated they don’t fully comprehend what their dentist is pointing out on x-rays. This might be one of the reasons why dentists are embracing technology so swiftly. A 2022 examination of how frequently AI occurs in dentistry literature found a 21.6% increase between 2011 and 2021 and a 34.5% increase over the prior five years.
