Exercise can potentially help type 2 diabetes patients by restoring brain insulin sensitivity

Although the relationship between brain insulin sensitivity and diabetes is well known, its precise nature is still being investigated. The impact of exercise on brain insulin sensitivity has recently been studied by scientists from the German Centre for Diabetes Research, Tübingen University Hospital, and Helmholtz Munich in Munich, Germany. The loss of insulin sensitivity in the brain is frequently followed by increased appetite and a disturbed metabolism.

Weight gain brought on by decreased brain insulin sensitivity raises the risk of type 2 diabetes. According to a recent study, obese people who participate in an 8-week fitness programme consisting of one hour of exercise three times a week can regain their brain insulin sensitivity.
