Mitochondria may have more uses than we know

MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit at Cambridge University is dedicated to conducting research on the abilities of mitochondria and discovering ways through which mitochondrial health can be improved. Scientists are hopeful that research on mitochondria has the potential to discover new treatments for diseases such as long COVID and making a better understanding of phenomena involved in neurodegenerative diseases and the process of ageing. Mitochondria, mostly considered as the powerhouse of our cell, is found to have more abilities than just being ATA generator. It keeps us warm and cold and also helps the retina in focusing.
