$1.13 Billion approved by AfDB to promote food security

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has ratified $1.13 billion fund to propagate food security all around Africa to control the rising inflation which is a consequence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the effects of pandemic, and climate changes. The initial round of funding involved $1.5 billion African Emergency Food Production Facility in May, which was targeted to ensure food security, better nutrition, and resilience. The food security programme, approved in July by AfDB, will finance eight countries in West Africa, five in Southern Africa, one in north Africa, and five in east Africa.
