Astellas announces €330 Million investment in state-of-the-art facility in Ireland

Astellas Pharma Inc. has announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art facility in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland, with an approximate cost of €330 million. This investment aims to expand Astellas’ capacity and capabilities for aseptic drug products, ensuring stable production for global supply and expediting the development and commercialisation of innovative antibody drugs and new products. The facility will be located at the Industrial Development Authority’s greenfield site in Kerry Technology Park, Tralee, creating specialised engineering, science, and technology roles in the region. Astellas intends to align the facility with ambitious sustainability targets, aiming to reduce water use, energy intensity and achieve zero waste to landfill. Construction is expected to start in 2024, with the site becoming operational by 2028.
