Food as medicine programmes receive $23m grant by Elevance Health Foundation

To support food as medicine programmes that address the issues of food and nutrition, Elevance Health Foundation has pledged to award $23 million. Elevance Health Foundation is an Indianapolis-based non-profit organisation that promotes food security among individuals suffering from chronic diseases. The non-profit organisation says that this funding will be employed to not only eradicate food insecurity but also to develop long-term solutions to address this issue. The organisation, which serves as the charitable foundation for Elevance Health Inc. (NYSE: ELV), formerly Anthem Inc., says that it will award more than $14 million to the Feeding America network to grow its food as medicine programmes. This funding marks the foundation’s largest ever and will help 30 member food banks that are in collaboration with other healthcare partners. Other than Feeding America, the fund is being awarded to 19 more organisations too.
