HCA Healthcare teams up with Google Cloud to utilise Generative AI for improved clinical workflows and documentation

HCA Healthcare and Google Cloud have joined forces to utilise generative AI for enhanced clinical workflows and reduced documentation burdens. In a successful pilot programme, around 75 emergency room physicians across four HCA Healthcare hospitals accessed Google’s AI technology via Augmedix to streamline medical note-taking. A hands-free device, powered by natural language processing and Google’s generative AI, transcribed clinician-patient conversations into notes, which clinicians reviewed and integrated into electronic health records. Physicians expressed strong satisfaction with the approach, prompting plans for expansion to more hospitals. Additionally, HCA is exploring the application of generative AI for nurse handoffs. The partnership seeks to enhance medical care quality and efficiency.
