Iran’s comprehensive digital health plan aims to enhance healthcare efficiency and lower costs

Iran’s ambitious digital health plan encompasses nine sectors aimed at enhancing healthcare efficiency and lowering costs, as per Mostafa Qanei of the Biotechnology Development Headquarters.

The comprehensive plan spans fitness, pregnancy, online consultations and appointments, electronic health records, smart hospital equipment, health tourism, diagnosis, and remote health monitoring. By utilising information and communication technologies in medicine, digital health encompasses various aspects like wearable devices, telehealth, and mobile health to improve healthcare access, quality, and personalization. With impressive advancements in healthcare indicators post-Islamic Revolution, Iran’s health system has been lauded as a regional role model, boasting electronic health records for 98% of the population and a well-funded health sector in 2022.
