OBS Group nearing acquisition of Bayer’s pharmaceutical assets in Pakistan

Pakistan’s OBS Group is in advanced talks to acquire pharmaceutical assets from Bayer AG in the country. The deal is said to involve the purchase of a manufacturing facility in Lahore and 12 pharmaceutical brands for approximately $25 million. OBS Group has created a new unit, partially owned by employees, for the acquisition. The transaction is expected to be finalised soon. Following the news, shares of AGP Ltd., a subsidiary of OBS Group involved in pharmaceutical manufacturing and marketing, reached their highest level in five months. Bayer is transferring its pharmaceutical and consumer health manufacturing plant in Lahore, along with selected brands, to an international company with a strong presence in Pakistan.
