Sweetwater Medical Associates addresses patient’s hypertension and obesity through Connect America’s RPM platform

Sweetwater Medical Associates, a Texas-based single-clinic family practice, implemented 100Plus, a technology developed by Connect America, for remote patient monitoring (RPM) of at-risk patients facing hypertension and obesity. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Sweetwater has consistently had a staffing shortage.

The staff has been time-constrained, which has made it difficult to keep track of at-risk patients with obesity and hypertension to help manage their chronic diseases and watch for early warning signs of issues. With 100 patients when it first began, Sweetwater’s RPM program has since grown to serve 240 patients. The virtual assistant interacts with patients. Many patients compare the virtual assistant to a human, citing encouragement, praise, and the sensation of support that might encourage personal responsibility.
