Vodacom and Free State Department of Health pioneer digital innovations in public healthcare

Vodacom and the Free State Department of Health have launched digital health solutions to elevate medical services in public hospitals. These solutions, including the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system and the assisted reality medico-legal surveillance system (ARMSS), aim to revolutionise patient care and record-keeping. The CAD system tracks ambulance requests, ensuring comprehensive electronic records of procedures performed en route. Meanwhile, the ARMSS, via RealWear wearable devices, offers hands-free collaboration for audio-visual recordings of medical procedures, enhancing reporting and investigations. This initiative leverages telecom technologies, emphasising Vodacom’s commitment to supporting government efforts in healthcare. Aligned with the National Health Insurance vision, Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana highlights how these digital projects drive modernization and advance universal healthcare. These innovations mark a significant step towards transforming public health services, prioritising efficiency and transparency, and embracing modern technology to enhance citizens’ access to quality healthcare.
