Digital health startups defy venture capital challenges, securing massive funding in Q1 2023

Despite the challenging venture capital landscape in 2023, several digital health startups have managed to secure significant funding. The first quarter of the year closed with $3.4 billion in digital health funding across 132 deals in the U.S., with an average deal size of $25.9 million. While 2023 is on track for the lowest funding levels since 2019, the first quarter showed an increase compared to the previous quarters. Notably, there were several mega deals that exceeded $100 million, including Monogram Health with $375 million, ShiftKey with $300 million, Paradigm with $203 million, ShiftMed with $200 million, Gravie with $179 million, and Vytalize Health with $100 million. These six megadeals accounted for approximately 40% of the total digital health funding in the first quarter.
