Google’s New Search Feature Provides Crucial Heat Safety Tips Worldwide

Google’s new search feature, developed in collaboration with the Global Heat Health Information Network and University of Sydney research, offers vital health and safety tips to people worldwide facing extreme heat events. This service, available in around 200 countries via Google search, provides information on the predicted start and end times of heat events and tips to stay cool and healthy. These evidence-based suggestions, devised by organisations including the WMO-WHO Joint Office for Climate and Health and the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, aim to enhance personal heat resilience. As heat-related threats rise due to climate change, the feature helps people identify signs of heat illness and adopt safety measures, which is especially crucial for vulnerable populations. The collaboration aligns research outcomes with policy and practice, ensuring wide accessibility to critical information.
