Huma partners with Google Cloud’s AI to enhance disease-management platform

New York-based digital health company Huma is set to enhance its disease-management digital product using Google Cloud’s generative AI technology. This Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) platform will leverage Google Cloud’s generative AI (GenAI) to automate clinical summary reports from patient data, aiding clinicians and patients in decision-making. The integration aims to improve patient-provider communication and tailor care plans. Huma also intends to explore the use of Google Cloud’s Med-PaLM 2 for optimised patient triaging. The growing influence of AI in healthcare, particularly in digital diagnostics and medical imaging, is highlighted, with the global AI applications market projected to reach $146 billion by 2030. However, concerns about data handling and cybersecurity accompany the benefits of AI integration. Google Cloud’s director of healthcare strategy and solutions, Aashima Gupta, emphasised how AI can streamline tasks for experts, allowing them to focus on complex matters. Dr. Mert Aral, Huma’s chief medical officer, stressed the need for responsible and safe AI implementation.
