SHADE research hub: Exploring intersections of Health, Technology, and Environmental Sustainability

The SHADE research hub, a collaboration between the School of Global Affairs and the Ethox Centre at the University of Oxford, gathers global researchers specialising in bioethics, sustainability, health policy, and technology ethics. Focusing on the intersection of Sustainability, Health, Artificial Intelligence, Digital technologies, and the Environment (SHADE), the hub aims to explore complex issues arising from the increasing demand for AI-driven health technologies alongside growing concerns about environmental sustainability. Co-led by Dr. Gabrielle Samuel and Dr. Federica Lucivero, the project emphasizes environmental lifecycle assessments, ethical considerations, and the integration of various disciplines. The initiative, funded by the King’s Climate and Sustainability Seed Fund, seeks to engage stakeholders globally and foster interdisciplinary research involving academia, policymakers, NGOs, and the public to critically address present challenges.
