Walmart has announced the inauguration of its research-focused arm, Walmart Healthcare Research Institute (WHRI), to address the issue of accessibility for underserved communities through research. The purpose of this initiative is to advance healthcare in terms of equity, quality, and safety. WHRI will concentrate on cutting-edge treatments and interventions that can benefit underrepresented groups such as senior citizens, those living in rural areas, women, and people of colour. WHRI first focuses on including residents of these communities in research on treatments for serious diseases and novel therapies.
