Western Australia invests in generative AI for healthcare innovations

The Western Australian government has allocated nearly $590,000 to fund 19 projects that aim to harness generative AI in healthcare. These projects span various aspects of health and medical domains, including research, innovation, service delivery, education, and training. Notably, two of these projects will explore how generative AI can aid in diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease and ear conditions. While acknowledging the uncertainties and risks associated with this technology, WA Medical Research Minister Stephen Dawson highlighted its potential to significantly enhance efficiency, improve care quality, and create value for healthcare organisations. This investment reflects a growing interest in leveraging AI for transformative healthcare solutions in Western Australia.
