Tufts University’s Food is Medicine Institute partners with Google to enhance nutrition information accessibility

Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy has unveiled its Food is Medicine Institute during a recent event. Google is set to collaborate with the institute to explore how technology can provide consumers with accessible and evidence-based nutrition information. Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian, the institute’s inaugural director, envisions it as a catalyst for change, focusing on improving health, reducing disparities, and establishing a more equitable health system centred on the power of food. The institute’s initiatives aim to integrate Food is Medicine into electronic health records, clinical care pathways, and referral systems while engaging public health advocates to influence federal nutrition policy. Google will assist the institute in optimising nutrition information available online, enhancing the quality of information, and promoting better access to high-quality food. This collaboration underscores the importance of nutritional choices in healthcare and well-being, particularly in a world where the internet is a primary source of health information. Google and the Food is Medicine Institute aim to empower individuals and organisations to make informed nutritional decisions, ultimately enhancing public health worldwide.
